Umm... I'm going to Nicaragua next week. Like Mama always said, "Life is like a..." (you know the rest). As I can now testify, you never know when you're gonna get more plane rides, cute children, and chances to love people who speak a language that you don't understand.

If you happen to work in the eye clinic, here's a useful phrase:
"Necesita lentes para ver cerca or lejos?"
And if you say it really fast,the patients will reciprocate by telling you their entire life story in rapid Spanish. Joy!
Then you can just respond in English (of course) "Huh?"
